“The key to accomplishment is motivation to achieve your goal, no matter how many obstacles you must overcome to reach the finish line.”
Although I have practiced in many different areas of law throughout my career, I strive to handle every matter utilizing this approach. Regardless of the subject matter involved or the circumstance, I understand that, for my clients, any legal process can be overwhelming, emotional and even intimidating. I truly believe that as an attorney, it is my responsibility to recognize that the personal implications for my clients in a matter are just as important as the law itself. Every client deserves representation from an attorney that is cognizant of both the personal component and the legal component that encompasses each individual matter. I pride myself on being able to provide that to each of my clients because clients are more than clients, they are humans. My ability to develop this skill is attributable to the fact that I instinctively enjoy helping people but is also largely credited to the types of matters I have handled throughout my career. These situations provided me the opportunity to really understand the importance of this role in my client relationships.
At the beginning of my career, I spent a significant amount of time representing clients in family matters, which included divorce litigation, custody disputes, domestic violence situations and post judgment matters. That experience opened my eyes to the emotional toll that certain matters impose on the people involved, which has continued to be a prevalent and important component in all legal areas I have had the pleasure of helping clients navigate. However, when I began learning the complexities of estate planning and elder law, I immediately knew that this is what I was made to do. I am a self-dubbed estate planning nerd and love being able to create plans for my clients to ensure that everything they have worked so hard for over the course of their life will go to benefit the people that they cherish most. Being able to provide my clients with that peace of mind is something that is priceless to me.
Although I still practice many areas of law, estate planning, estate administration, estate litigation and guardianship matters are truly my passion. Each estate plan that I draft is carefully tailored to each client’s unique circumstance to ensure that their ultimate goal is carried out. I also provide assistance to grieving family members in administering the estate of a loved one and strive to provide closure when litigation is brought involving an estate. I enjoy helping families prepare for situations when a parent or loved one may require care in a facility to ensure the loved one is receiving what is needed for their safety and well-being. I have also had the privilege of serving as temporary guardian over individuals that may not have anyone else to ensure their care. Unfortunately, life does not always go as planned and I enjoy being able to apply my skillset to help families or individuals that may not know where else to turn. In addition, I continue to enjoy representing clients in real estate transactions, landlord/tenant matters, civil litigation and business formations.
