In my decades of work as a lawyer with experience in public accounting and in private corporations, I have learned things about the practice of law from my clients. My experience enables me to understand that, while most individuals, business, and families need legal assistance regarding their economic rights, they want to achieve a goal.  That goal is rarely simply understanding the law or “making new law.”  Rather, it is to create and grow wealth, to pass that wealth to family, friends, and relatives and to give others, such as valued employees, the opportunity to do the same or to participate in the wealth process.  Those goals also include establishing and promoting certain relationships and allowing business and other relationships to begin and end in a way that benefits all parties. The cost which people will pay for legal services depends on the significance or value of their goals, their means, and whether the legal advice enables them to create situations which benefit themselves and others. Without understanding their goals, you can’t be able to create solutions that clients will value.  In addition, demonstrating an understanding of their goals allows the client to trust your judgment and make certain that their expectations are reasonable and achievable.  The firm has a philosophy which encourages understanding client’s goals and providing valuable solutions to our clients.  It is understood that achieving a client’s goals is good for both the firm and the client in the short term and in the long run.  Clients are pleased in the short term when their goals are understood and achieved. Since legal services are often not needed regularly, the satisfied client is likely to return to a lawyer and firm that understood and met their goals in the past which is good for both the client and the lawyer in the long term.  I look to create those short and long term solutions for client on a daily basis.
